📢 EARTHQUAKE EVACUATION EXERCISE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY MATARAM 2024 🌍
On Friday, May 24, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering of Mataram University held an Earthquake Evacuation Exercise in Prof. Morisco’s Conference Room, Building A 3rd Floor. The event started at 09.30 WITA and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Deputy Dean for General and Financial Affairs, and students.
Purpose of the Event: This exercise aims to increase the awareness and readiness of the entire academic community in dealing with potential earthquake disasters, given the geographical location of Lombok which is prone to earthquakes. Through this simulation, participants are expected to understand the correct and quick evacuation procedures.
Event Agenda:
1. Opening
The event began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mataram University, who emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and the active role of all faculty members in carrying out evacuation drills.
2. Evacuation Simulation
Participants, consisting of students and faculty staff, then conducted an earthquake evacuation simulation. They were taught to stay calm, protect their heads, and move quickly towards a predetermined gathering point.
Benefits of the Event: This activity provided participants with hands-on experience on proper evacuation procedures. In addition, the exercise also strengthened coordination and communication between faculty members, which is crucial in emergency situations.
Future Expectations: With this evacuation exercise, it is hoped that the entire academic community of the Faculty of Engineering, Mataram University will be more prepared and alert in dealing with earthquake disasters. High awareness and preparedness can minimize the risks and impacts caused by natural disasters.
